Billing Policy
As a courtesy, Carolina Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center will file all insurance claims for you except auto accident claims or claims that are in litigation. In order for this to be done, we must obtain certain information. When you call for an appointment, our customer service representative will ask for your demographic and insurance information. Please have this information ready when you call. When you arrive for your appointment, we will obtain a copy of your insurance card and photo ID. Additional information will be needed if your appointment is for a work-related injury.
Although Carolina Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center contracts with multiple insurance companies, it is your responsibility to make sure that the doctor you will be seeing is in your insurance plan. Also, if a referral is needed, please obtain that referral prior to your appointment. If your claim is work-related, please obtain a letter of authorization from your employer and bring it with you to your appointment.
At your first appointment, you will be responsible for all fees including any co-pays, co-insurance, deductibles, and any non-covered items received. For your convenience, we accept cash, checks, credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, and Discover), as well as money orders.
Although Carolina Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine will file your insurance forms, payment for medical services is your responsibility. We will assist you in any way we can in order to make this process and your appointment as smooth as possible.
