Dr. H. Clayton Thomason is an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in ankle, elbow, hip, joint replacement, knee, shoulder, and sports medicine care. He began practicing at Carolina Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center in 2000.
After completing his bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Dr. Thomason received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. Following medical school, he completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at UNC Healthcare in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Dr. Thomason is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
When he is not seeing patients for ankle, elbow, hip, joint replacement, knee, shoulder, and sports medicine-related injuries, Dr. Thomason enjoys hunting, golf, shooting, sports, his farm, fishing, and his family and children.
Dr. Thomason has been voted by the Gaston Gazette as Best of Gaston – Best Surgeon every year since 2019 and Charlotte Magazine recognized Dr. Thomason as a Top Orthopaedic Surgeon in 2023.
